City Tournament Championship Game
July 1st, 2008All I can say about the game is WOW!
The game started of with a bang. There was a man on second and first. Up comes “Gunner” who took one look at the pitch and proceeded to knock it over the center field fence. It was a sight to see. Nobody in any other game that we played this year has hit the ball out of the park. We kept up a lead on the Tigers until the bottom of the last inning. We were up 10-9 in the bottom of the last inning. The Tigers got some key hits from the bottom of their lineup and were able to score the needed 2 runs to win the game. Both teams played an excellent games.
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE KIDS ON YOUR 2ND PLACE FINISH.
Tournament Game vs Rockies
June 27th, 2008TheMets are the best hitting team in the league and today we proved it. Today we had 13 hits! These hits helped us to give the Rockies a beating. We beat the Rockies 13-2. With this win, we advance to the championship game.
The championship game will be played on Tuesday July 1st at 6:00 on field #2.
City Tournament vs Pirates
June 26th, 2008I forgot to bring the camera to the game, so I don’t have any pictures to share. It was another game of hits. We easily beat the Pirates, which took second in their division, so bring on the Rockies!!!
This win means;
THE METS ARE GOING TO THE STATE TOURNAMENT.
The state tournament is July 15-17. I will post the schedule once it becomes available.
City Tournament vs Reds
June 24th, 2008Today we only had two base hits, but managed to score 7 runs. This means that we were watching the balls and weren’t swinging at bad pitches. There are still some of us that aren’t swinging the bat, so we need to work on that.
We also setup a mister to keep the boys cool in this blasted heat wave. It’s a pretty nice contraption to have, as long as Thomas doesn’t use up all the water.
Next game is Wed 6/25 at 6:45.
If we win that game, then we play Friday 6/27 @6:45 on F#1
If we lose that game, then we play Thursday 6/26 @6:45 on F#2
City League Tournament
June 20th, 2008The City League Tournament starts Monday. It is a double elimination tournament. That means we are guaranteed to play at least two games. A team is eliminated from the tournament after their second loss.
Our chances of going to state are looking pretty good. There are two divisions in the league. The top two teams from each division received an automatic bid to the State Tournament. If these four teams finish in the top four places in the City tournament, then the 5th and 6th place teams would receive a bid to the State Tournament. The Tournament runs from Monday 6/23 through Tuesday 07/01.
Our first team in on Monday 6/23 at 5:15 on Field #3. The time and date of our next game will be on Wednesday 6/25. The time and field number will depend on whether we win or lose . You can download a copy of the tournament schedule as follows:
If we win on Monday, then we play on Wed at 6:45 on Field #3
If we lose on Monday, then we play on Wed at 5:15 on Field #2
Game Day vs Tigers
June 19th, 2008Today wasn’t our best game. Their picture “Max” brought is A+++*** game today and the Tigers had some outstanding defensive plays. We only managed to get one hit today, from Austin. As a result we lost the game which resulted in a tie for second place with the Tigers. The first and second place teams get an automatic entry into the State tournament. The tie breaker was decided on the number of runs scored against each other. The tie breaker went to the Tigers by one run. As a result, we will be seeded third in the City tournament that will start on Monday.
Game Day vs Cubs
June 18th, 2008After some intensive contract negotiations we were able to hire a Professional Waterboy. Asa’s dad brought a big 5 gallon jug of water to today’s game. By the end of the game, I think Thomas was wearing 2 gallons of water.
The Cubs got off to an explosive start and gave us quite the scare. The scariest point happened in the last inning with the Cubs down by 2 runs with bases loaded and 2 outs. What happened next was a BIG MACK attack! McKade struck out the last batter and we won the game.
Game Day vs Braves
June 16th, 2008The team was without four of their teammates. However that didn’t dampen their spirits or the sound of their bats. The team start off a bit shaky, but battled back to overcome a 9-5 deficit in the bottom of the last inning. Asa and Nate had some key hits that sparked the winning rally. The Braves pitcher walked in the tying run and “Big Mac” McKade had the game winning RBI. Being the home team definitely has helped us win the past couple of games.
Way to go team. I am proud of each of you.
Thomas, Austin, and Jaden were hit by the pitcher today. Jaden was hit in the hand, while the beaming of Austin caused quite the commotion. Was he hit by the pitch, or was it a foul ball? Coach Owens thought he could see through Austin’s back, so it’s a lucky thing that I was paying attention and saw that it hit Austin and then bounced into the bat. Thomas has been hit by the pitcher a couple of times this year. In each of those games Thomas has had the biggest smile on his face as he runs to first. He is a very fun player to have on the team.
